QUASIMODO, The Hunchback - A deformed and hideous foundling, abandoned on the steps of Notre-Dame, taken in and raised by Archdeacon Frollo- Quasimodo becomes the reclusive, deranged bell-ringer of the great cathedral.

LA ESMERALDA, The Gypsy Girl - A sweet and lovely carefree creature of the streets. Possessing a compelling and yet innocent sexuality, La Esmeralda is a totally uncomplicated soul, with an open and frank love of all life, enchanting all who see her sing and dance.

CLAUDE FROLLO, The Archdeacon - A solemn, austere, morose and mysterious priest; powerful, second only to the Bishop of Paris; Frollo is a tall, dark, menacing man, passionately devoted to the pursuit of knowledge- also rumored by terrified underlings to be a practitioner of the forbidden black arts.

PHOEBUS DE CHATEAUPERS, The Captain of the Guards - Vain, arrogant, with a shrewd eye for his own advancement in the military, Phoebus is an opportunistic golden boy, the epitome of blond egotism. He has all the striking good looks, strength and courage to inspire the admiration of his men and the utter devotion of many women, Esmeralda included.

PIERRE GRINGOIRE, The Poet - Dark haired and handsome, the Poet was orphaned at an early age, and educated under the auspices of Claude Frollo. Street-wise, a bit cocky, owing allegience only to himself, Gringoire nevertheless is enthralled with Esmeralda.
